The state of Wisconsin requires that Private Security Persons receive a permit from the Department of Safety and Professional Services. To receive a permit, an individual must:
Be a U.S. citizen or resident alien

Be employed by a licensed agency
Submit fingerprints and complete a background check

A private security person may carry a firearm if they have completed the 36-hour initial training course and obtained a Firearms Permit
The permit must be renewed July 31 every even year

In the state of Wisconsin, both Private Security Agencies and Private Detective Agencies are licensed through the Department of Safety and Professional Services as "Private Detective Agencies." To be licensed, a company must:

Be registered to do business in the state of Wisconsin

Obtain a liability policy or bond of $100,000. If the agency is covered by a bond instead of liability insurance, each Private Security Person employee will be required to obtain a $2000 bond as well.
Pay a fee
The license must be renewed July 31 every odd year

Licensed security agencies must notify the Department within five days of employing a Private Security Person and within five days of terminating a Private Security Person. They may send the information directly to the Department or use these forms:
